Tips to Safely Remove Ice from Auto Glass

Use a Rubbing Alcohol Mixture

If you need to defrost your windshield in a hurry, take a spray bottle and pour in two parts rubbing alcohol and one part water. Make sure the water is at room temperature. Now shake the bottle and spray this solution on your iced-up windshield.

The alcohol will make the ice slide off the glass almost instantly. But if it’s caked on too thick, repeat the process until all the ice has gone.

Try Salt and Water

Salt has forever been used to clean up our driveways, so why not try some on your windshield?

All you need to do is mix one tablespoon of salt in 2 glasses of water. Now carefully spread this mixture across the windshield, and the ice will clean off all by itself.

If you want to expedite the process, use a plastic scraper, the kind you’d use in your freezer to scrape off the ice from the glass. Make sure that you don’t strike the glass, but only gently remove chunks of ice that have already thawed off.

Pour Warm Water on Your Car

So, fill a bucket with warm water and gently pour it on your car from the top-down, ensuring that the windshield is covered in it thoroughly. Do this a couple of times, and the ice will melt off.
