How to Protect Yourself from Shattering Sunroofs


The first and most important thing you need to do to protect yourself is to be vigilant when buying or renting a car. Always check to make sure there isn’t any damage to the sunroof. You should report any damage, no matter how minor, to the dealership company.  

Additionally, when it’s hot outside, you should leave the shade of the sunroof open, especially when you’re not in the car. Generally, try to keep your car in the shade if possible, so the heat doesn’t build up between the glass and the shade. This would put more pressure on the glass, accelerating the spread of any damage. Also, getting the glass of the sunroof tinted on the inside will prevent the glass from shattering on you should it break.
